CWDM Optical Receiver for 6 L-Band RF channels over single fiber for MDU Modern Satellite TV systems such as DirecTV have multiple coax feeds from the dish for different polarities. These RF signals feed into a Single Wire Multiswitch, or SWiM system. Thor F-LB61-CWRX systems provide 6 L-Band RF outputs to drive the multiswitch. These signals are carried over a single fiber from a Thor F-LB61-CWTX transmitter system. These receivers are ideal for mid scale systems not large enough to require DWDM or EDFA amplifiers. Under most conditions, the optical signal from the transmitter can drive up to 32 F-LB61-CWRX receivers. For systems requiring more drops, multiple CWDM transmitters can be used, or a DWDM system with an EDFA can be implemented. These receivers have a very high sensitivity, allowing them to work under less than ideal link conditions. Functioning at optical power levels down to -12dBm allows F-LB61-DWRX receivers to work even with dirty fiber connectors or poor splices. Typical RF receiver sensitivities are around -7dBm, a sensitivity improvement of 5dB corresponds to almost 15km of Singlemode fiber @1310nm wavelengths. Thor F-LB61 transmitters and receivers can also be used with PLC splitters for multi point distribution. Thor offers free design and consultation service to help determine the best equipment configuration. Contact a sales representative for assistance.
